INDIA! There is simply no country on earth quite like it! The third Wild Images India Wildlife Spectacular lived up to its title again to what must be one of the World’s ultimate photographic tour destinations. A procession of the subcontinent’s most impressive creatures started with some thrilling encounters with the Asiatic Lions in Gir Forest National Park in Gujurat as well as a couple of Leopards, followed by herds of elegant Blackbuck and six sightings of Grey Wolf at Velavadar. Onagers, or Wild Asses, were the stars of the show in the Little Rann of Kutch, supported by Indian Courser and point blank views of another speciality of this area, Sykes’s Nightjar. Other interesting birds in Gujurat included: Sarus Cranes; Pallid Scops Owls and graceful Pallid Harriers. Leaving Gujurat we headed north into the Thar Desert to Rajasthan, via the golden city of Jaisalmer and on to the small village of Khichan, where its thousands of Demoiselle Cranes provided a stunning spectacle to complete our pre-tour extension. From Rajasthan we flew east to start the main tour in India’s capital city Delhi.
