The 2013 Wild Images tour to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro in northern Tanzania proved to be a fantastic success. Not only did we have stunning wildlife encounters and associated photographic opportunities, often in incredible light, but also excellent opportunities for amazing scenery and landscape photography. The wildlife highlights from this tour are really too numerous to list, but special mention must be made of the vast herds of migrating wildebeest and zebras, frequent close encounters with African Lions, wonderfully accommodating Cheetahs, lounging Leopards, regular sightings of gremlin-like Bat-eared Foxes, wonderful African Elephants and Black Rhinoceroses, herds of Hippopotamuses doing their thing, vultures feeding at very close quarters, displaying Kori Bustards, fantastic Grey Crowned Cranes and excellent close views of Lesser Kestrel, canoodling Fischer’s Lovebirds, Lilac-breasted and Eurasian Rollers, Hildebrandt’s and Superb Starlings, Beautiful and Golden-winged Sunbirds (amongst other stunning sunbird species), various weavers including the endemic Rufous-tailed Weaver, and wonderful views of displaying Straw-tailed and Pin-tailed Whydahs.
These highlights, together with the first class accommodations and cuisine, excellent local driver/guide and friendliness of the local people certainly combined to make this tour live up to its billing as Africa’s Ultimate Wildlife Safari.
